Woke up this morning after a good sleep . Found the weather to be much better for the walk to work :-)
We hit the tools early with Jim tackling the tail box and myself starting the firewall installation. Brakes from yesterday had been installed to a point where we had to stop and move onto other things.
Mocking up the firewall and marking any excess to be trimed . Many holes needed to be drilled
Holes for holding the the battery box , firewall and oil cooler bracket need to be drilled. Here seen with clecos installed.
Jim doing some proctology. He seemed to like having his hands up there ;-) He was installing the tail box section , rudder attach fittings and elevator controls.
Clecos installed after for rivets drilling and coutersinking
Engine mount holes punched , everything ready for riveting.
Jim practicing brute force and ignorance.
Deburring all the holes of the stainless steel firewall . With a bad case of hat hair :-(
Jim was mocking up the wings , cutting the struts and checking angles . A problem was found with wing attach points . Being in the factory it will be easy but if you where in the field it would be a big issue.
Mike checking on progress
Jim lifting on his right wing :-)
The right wing minus the strut. Strut lengths needed to be trimmed and holes drilled.
Visual progress :-D Oil cooler and Gasculator installed as well as the exhaust deflector .
Engine mount installed and torqued . Time to call it a day :-) Return to base for debriefing and cocktails
